Evaluation-
My overall experience with Illustration 1 has been a positive one, I’ve really enjoyed seeing my own work and ideas and also working methods progress. There were definitely some exercises/assignments that I preferred over others, but even the ones that I didn’t enjoy as much I still tried to produce something I was happy with.
What I’ve noticed with my tutor reports is that I tend to have good ideas but can sometimes stop short of fulfilling their creative potential, so I’ve worked really on hard on pushing myself that bit further each time to try to get the best outcome I can, I think one of my strengths I’ve found with the course is character design, I thoroughly enjoyed creating different characters for different situations. Something that I’d like to develop further is my knowledge on digital art which this course also encouraged me to try, I’m proud of how far I’ve come as total novice to it but I know I have a long way to go and look forward to picking up new skills within the area. I’ve also noticed my ability to step back from a project and reflect on what I could have done get better, this has lead to ideas growing and trying out new things which has ultimately made my finished products a lot better, and I hope for this new found patience towards my work will grow.
I’ve chosen to submit a range of work that has both digital and traditionally finished artworks, I chose ones where I particularly enjoyed doing the exercise not necessarily the greatest finished work but had a lot of fun with. A couple of my favourites include the mock up book cover exercise and the choosing content exercise. I chose to include 8 of the exercises and 2 of the assignments to make up my 10 pieces to submit, I added in the two assignments as both of which I’m incredibly pleased with but also very happy with how different they are from the beginning of the course to the end I’m glad to see my progression as an artist is definitely visible. I look forward to hopefully continuing on with the course and expanding my skills and knowledge further.
